Welcome to the Rhode Island Public Safety Grant Administration Office Website

The Rhode Island Public Safety Grant Administration Office (PSGAO), formerly the Rhode Island Justice Commission, is the agency within the Central Management of the Department of Public Safety charged with planning, coordination, data collection, statistical analysis and grant administration and distribution for the adult criminal and juvenile justice systems. Through these efforts the PSGAO develops comprehensive programming for the purpose of improving the state's overall response to crime issues.

The PSGAO's primary responsibility is to plan and apply for, receive and administer various federal grants including the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Formula Grant; the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Act Formula Grant; the Victims of Crime Act Victims Assistance Formula Grant; the S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women Act Formula Grant, the Paul Coverdell Forensic Science Improvement Grant, Residential Substance Abuse Treatment (RSAT) for State Prisoners Formula Grant Program, and the National Criminal History Improvement Grant Program. The PSGAO also houses the state’s Criminal Justice Statistical Analysis Center.

Request for Information (RFI) - Sexual Assault Services Program (SASP)

The Public Safety Grant Administration Office announces a Request for Information (RFI) regarding the FY-2017 Sexual Assault Service Program or SASP, the annual federal formula grant program. The RFI is an attempt to identify agencies in Rhode Island that provide services to victims of sexual assault, and the nature and extent of those services offered.
